1) Annual Hingham Newcomers Club Children’s Holiday Party

Saturday, December 17th is the Annual Hingham Newcomers Club Children’s Holiday Party held at the Plymouth River Elementary School, 200 High Street, Hingham. The party begins at 10:00am and runs until 12:30 pm. Bring your youngsters for a host of crafts, games, treats, pictures with Santa and an interactive performance by Jim Armstrong. Hingham children’s author Julie Browne will also be joining us to autograph copies of her latest book. Admission is $5 per child for members, and $10 per child for non-members. Santa photos are an additional $5. Sadie Mae’s Cupcake Cafe will again be sponsoring the cupcake walk

2) Kingston Luminary Festivities

The Kingston Luminary Festivities Kingston will be held on Saturday December 17th from 6-pm at different locations throughout town. Reed Building will have acoustic performances by Nashville Artists Timmy Brown from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm, arts and crafts, hot cocoa, cider and cookies. The Adams Center Library is where Mrs. Clause will be reading starting at 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm. The Kingston Public Library is slated for hot cider, donuts and a warm space while the Faunce School is hosting the Boy Scouts Festival of Lights. St. Joseph, St. Marks, Mayflower Congregational, First Parish Unitarian and Restoration Community Church, all on Main Street, will be open and decorative. The Kingston Surprise Hose will be holding an Open House from 6:00 pm until 8:30 on Main Street and Elm, and the Town Green is where you can go for the tree lighting a rounds of caroling.

3) Boston Sports Night

On Saturday, December 17th at 4:00 you have your chance to meet three sports authors; Fluto Shinzawa, Erik Frenz and Sean Glennon. Barnes & Noble, 96 Derby Street in Hingham is hosting “Boston Sports Night” and these three authors will be available to sign your book copies just in time for the holidays. Fluto Shinzawa will be signing copies of his new book, The Big 50: Boston Bruins: The Men and Moments that Made the Boston Bruins. Erik Frenz will be signing copies of his new book, Bill Belichick vs. The NFL: The Case for the NFL’s Greatest Coach. And Sean Glennon will be signing copies of his newly updated book Tom Brady vs. The NFL: The Case for Football’s Greatest Quarterback.

4) Glastonbury Abbey Christmas Caroling

On Sunday, December 18th, join the Benedictine monks of Hingham’s own Glastonbury Abbey monastery for a wonderful night of Christmas caroling under the arbor. Music sheets will be provided, as will hot chocolate and John’s home made cookies. All are welcome to come starting at 4:00 pm.

5) Harpist Aine Minogue

Aine Minogue performs at 4:00 pm at the Coffeehouse off the Square, Old Ship Parish House, 107 Main St., Hingham. Note that this concert takes place in the afternoon unlike the usual 8 pm time. Minogue is a well-known traditional Irish harpist and vocalist. She is well known for her ethereal voice and harp playing. Admission is $15 at the door. Desserts and beverages are $1.
