1) Start of the 35th Annual Christmas in Hingham Square
Starting this Friday night, December 2nd at 6:00 pm, thousands of people will descend on downtown Hingham to experience the 35th year of Christmas in the Square thanks to the organizational mastery of the Hingham Downtown Association. The much awaited 35th Annual Christmas in Hingham Square begins with some traditional evening festivities from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Santa will arrive by firetruck at the corner of Main Street and South Street to visit downtown Hingham. In addition there will be live music and the Festival of Trees at the Hingham Community Center. Streets closures will occur starting at 4:00 pm but there will be ample parking outside of the downtown area.
2) 35th Annual Christmas in Hingham Square 2016
The magic continues for a full day on Saturday, December 3rd with Christmas in Hingham Square 2016 starting at 10:00 am and running until 4:00 pm. Children’s activities, horse-drawn hayrides, giveaways, crafts and caroling are but some of the offerings. Boston radio station, Magic 106.7 is including Christmas in the Square on its holiday tour and will be in Hingham from 12 noon until to 6:00 pm. This event strives to keep any commercialism to a bare minimum, therefore participating vendors are allowed to offer free giveaways, with sales restricted to nearby stores. Parking is free, and so is the event. Don’t miss this Hingham highlight as it will surely invigorate your holiday spirits..
3) Have A Cool Yule Family Concert
Snug Harbor Community Chorus is heralding in the holiday season with a family concert on December 3rd, Saturday, starting at 7:30 pm. There will be 70 singers for great singalong of all your holiday favorites. From classical, swing, traditional Christmas and Hanukkah music, the evening will surround you with the mood of the season. The concert on Saturday will be at the Duxbury Performing Arts Center, 73 Alden Street in Duxbury and tickets are $17 for adults, $15 for seniors and students, and $12 each for groups of 10 or more. 4) Hingham Craft Workshop: Winter Door Decor
The Hingham Public Library is hosting a crafting workshop that will help you create a unique winter decoration for your front door in Hingham. The class is on Saturday, December 3rd, from 10:00 am until 12 noon in the Whiton Room, 66 Leavitt Street in Hingham. The cost is only $15 and includes some materials and plenty of greenery to get you going. The goal is to create a tree using the fresh greens, bows, pine cones, ornaments, dried fruit, acorns, berries, bird feathers and anything else you would like to bring along (and please do bring along your preferred decorations). 5) Have A Cool Yule Family Concert
Due to its popularity, he Snug Harbor Community Chorus has added a show in Hanover this year. The chorus will perform a matinee concert at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4th at the First Congregational Church of Hanover, 547 Hanover Street, Hanover. Tickets to the Hanover show are $15 and available in advance through at the First Congregational Church office across from the church or by sending an email through the Snug Harbor Community Chorus website.
