1) Run Thru Time
Take a beautiful, fall, 2.5 mile run through the Hingham Cemetery on Saturday, October 22nd in the ”Run Thru Time” event this weekend at 3:30 pm. This is a unique and fascinating run through the beauty of the Hingham cemetery amidst our peaking fall foliage. This is the South Shore’s only garden cemetery and includes many unusual specimen trees and hand carved monuments. It’s also the resting place of some early influential Americans including sea captains, soldiers, several Massachusetts Governors , a few of Honest Abe’s relatives and a Secretary of The US Navy. Don’t miss this special event timed perfectly for the foliage and the autumn sun light. Following the race have some food and drink in the newly restored Ames Chapel. Proceeds from the event benefit the continued care of this special place.
2) Renegade Run
The Renegade Run is often described as the South Shore’s biggest block party as well as an amazing athletic experience. On Sunday, October 23rd. starting at 10:00 am in Hingham’s Wompatuck State Park, this challenging course will wind through paved trails and wooded terrain but beware the challenging obstacles – although they are easily conquered by everyone. Over 20 obstacles are planned over the 4 mile race course including things like monkey bars, walls, tunnels and even a cargo net. After the run there will be a food festival, beer tent, and live music. There are plenty of family-friendly activities planned as well. Bring the kids to the mini-renegade course or rock climbing tower. All the money raised goes to fund research to find a cure for type 1 diabetes.
To register for the Renegade Run go to their official registration page.
3) 11th Annual Hingham Arts Walk
