5 Things to do in and Around Hingham This Weekend

1) Hull Artists Open Studios Tour

On Saturday, October 15th and Sunday, October 16th from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm each day, Hull Artists invite all to their 3rd and final Open Studios of the 2016 season. The studios are spread through the Hull peninsula and include more than 40 artists. You can see their various displays and some artists will be giving art demos. There is no cost for admission and artist’s pieces will be on sale.

2) Beauty and the Beast

The Hingham Civic Music Theatre presents “Beauty and the Beast” beginning at 7:30 pm, Saturday, October 15th at Sanborn Auditorium in Hingham Town Hall, 210 Central Street. There are an additional four shows as well; October 16th at 7:30, October 21st at 7:30 pm, October 22nd at 2:00 pm, and October 23rd at 2:00 pm. Experienced entertainer and one-time cast member at Walt Disney World, Carole Shannon, will play the role of Belle. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and students, and $10 for children.

3) Crafting Wreaths out of Old Books

It’s time for the next class in Playing with Books craft series. Join the crafters to use the pages of old library books to make unique and beautiful wreaths. This class is so popular we have added a third session on Saturday, October 15th at 10:00 am. All supplies are provided. Please contact us with any questions: 781-741-1405 ext. 1404.

4) Hilarious Caricatures with Mark Penta

Even though this is a mid week event, Hilarious Caricatures with Mark Penta sounds interesting enough to be on the list of “Things to do in Hingham.” Professional artist Mark Penta will host a fun and hilarious evening of caricature drawing on Tuesday, October 18th at 6:00 pm at the Hingham Library. Get in line to have your picture drawn and watch as he crafts his art form. All ages are invited for this event. Mark Penta has been drawing caricatures for over 25 years and can draw 18 people per hour and capture someone’s likeness in 5 minutes. His goal is to make everyone smile, laugh, and have fun! This will be an extremely popular event so please call the Library ahead of time to register at 781-741-1405 ext. 1404.

5) Scenic Trail Run

Saturday, October 15th at 8:30 am, join Wildlands Trust Property Manager Erik Boyer for a casual, 5 mile trail run through Halfway Pond Conservation Area in Plymouth. There is a pace for almost every runner whether you run 7 or 10 minute miles. Meeting place is at the Wildlands Trust Headquarters, 675 Long Pond Road in Plymouth. While this event is free, registration is required.
