1) Pan-Mass Challenge South Shore Kids Ride

The Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) South Shore Kids Ride is being held at Wompatuck State Park on Sunday, June 12th, starting with the check-in at 7:30 am. The PMC Kids Rides offers children, parents, and neighbors an opportunity to work together to create individual bike-a-thons in neighborhoods and communities to raise money for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Children between the ages of 3 and 15 can participate. The ride itself begins at 9:00 am. Register today, June 10th, by visiting the Pan Mass Challenge website. Note there is a required fundraising minimum of $25 to participate.

Feel free to contact the local Hingham Pan Mass contacts, Lisa Patterson at pattersonlisa66@gmail.com, or Jackie Temple at jackie.temple@comcast.net. You can also visit the Pan Mass Challenge Website.

2) Unveiling of the Historic Hingham Girls Scout House

Maybe you didn’t know this, but the historic preservation of the Hingham Girls Scout House is complete! On Saturday, June 11th, come to the house located at 26 Burr Road in Hingham for a ribbon cutting ceremony and a big thank you to all the donors who stepped forward to save the first Girls Scouts house built in New England. In 2013, the Girl Scouts of Eastern Mass. stopped funding for the maintenance of the Hingham Girl Scout House. Serendipitously, the roof began leaking and the furnace stopped working several times. It was at this time that the Hingham community stepped in and raised the money needed to take care of history. The festivities begin at 1:00 pm with an open house, and continue until 3:00 pm.

More details are available on the Hingham Girl Scout website.

3) Time to pick Strawberries!

There are a number of local area farms supporting the pick-your-own-strawberry movement, One is Billingsgate Farm, 6 County Road in Plympton whose strawberry field is said to be bursting with fruit. Hours are daily, from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm. Pricing is $3.50 per pound and $1 for each container you need to purchase there. Call 781-293-6144 for the updated picking conditions or visit the Billingsgate Farm website.

Plympton seems to be the land of strawberries! Sauchuk Farm, also in Plympton at 127 Center Street, is open from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm, depending on the weather. Pricing is similar to the other farm prices but not listed on their website for this year. For directions visit the Sauchuk Farm website.

4) Car Show in Hull

On Sunday, June 12th, starting at 9:00 am, the Nantasket Beach Car Show, to benefit Cops for Kids with Cancer, is held at Nantasket Beach, in Hull. This is an annual event, and always very colorful. There will be hundreds for classic, antique and modern day cars to stroll through. Rain date for this event is June 19th. For more information about this free event go to the Nantasket Beach Car Show Website.

5) Haul Fashion Truck Festival

Here is an event you probably have never attended – the Haul Fashion Truck Festival is coming to Cole Parkway in Scituate on Saturday, June 11th, from 1:00 PM – 7:00 PM. We have heard of food trucks at this point, and a fashion truck is a concept based on a similar premise. A fashion truck brings the boutique to you by setting it up inside trailers or large trucks. Although the website they have listed is not at a functional level, their Facebook Page seems to be more active so please visit that to get more information on the phenomena.
