5 Things to do in Hingham This Weekend

1) Choral Art Society of the South Shore Spring Concert: Bach Meets the Beatles

Wear your favorite Beatles t-shirt or attire and come hear your Beatles favorites on Sunday, May 1 at 4:30 pm. The Choral Art Society of the South Shore Spring Concert is at House of Prayer Lutheran Church, 916 Main St. Bach shirts and attire is also strongly encouraged. The performance promises to be original and whimsical and
proceeds from help fund their yearly scholarship, awarded to a high school senior from the South Shore who will be majoring in music next year. Additionally, the Choral Art Society provides outreach singing to nursing homes and hospitals.

Tickets can be purchased online at the Choral Art Society website, Buttonwood Books in Cohasset, Carousels & Ships in Hull, CreYo Frozen Yogurt in Scituate, Mano Mano in Marshfield and at the door. The cost for tickets are $20 and $18 for seniors and students.

2) Artisan & Craft Fair

Over 25 artists in multiple genres will offer their creations on Saturday, April 30, 9 am until 3 pm. From the latest in upcycled goods and home decor, to hand made jewelry and clothing, and everything in between, it is a great way to support local art and the Hingham Public Library.

3) May Day Boutique at Hingham High School

On Sunday, May 1, Hingham High School opens its doors from 9 am until 4 pm to display spring products for sale. This is a fundraising event for Hingham High School groups and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Come check out the Hingham-specific products. There is a $2 fee at the door.

4) Sheep Shearing Day

The Weir River Farm says the sheep are ready to be sheared! You can bring the family on Saturday, April 30 from 10 am until 2 pm and learn all about sheep life, and watch the entire process of shearing. There will be a wool spinner there and watch how the wool becomes yarn. The 4-H crew will be there and will also be talking about beekeeping and conducting outdoor gardening activities and indoor crafts. There will also be a food truck there.

5) Fly Me to the Moon Concert at Marshfield Airport

The South Shore Conservatory’s (SSC) Duxbury Music Festival Faculty is presenting a preview concert at Marshfield Airport , 93 Old Colony Lane in Marshfield, on Saturday night, April 30, starting at 6:30 pm. This will be held in the the Penmor hangar and wine and charcuterie will be served . This is a cabaret style concert and dancing is encouraged, but to protect the hangar flooring, soft shoes only. Vintage and modern aircraft on display and SSC voice student Thomas Joyce from Marshfield will perform.

The music will span the decades from Brat Pack to Cold Play, Carole King, Elton John and Marvin Gaye. Tickets are $50 per person or $350 for a table of eight. To purchase tickets call 781-749-7565 ext. 19 or visit the Duxbury Music Festival website.
